Kevin Hines:
My name is Kevin Hines. I jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge. I believe that I had to die, but I lived. Today, I travel the world with my lovely wife, Margaret, sharing stories of people who have triumphed over incredible adversity. Now, we help people be here tomorrow. Welcome to the HINESIGHTS Podcast.
Kevin Hines:
What is cracking? Hope Nation, it is your friendly neighbor, Kevin Hines, and I wanted to talk to you about something I just read recently on Inc. Magazine, and it's, it's amazing. It's 4 amazing mental health hacks for your mental health and wellbeing and your wellness, and they were inspired by the iconic investor Warren Buffett. Let's get right into it. Here we go.
Kevin Hines:
Number one is sleep. Sleep function is crucial to your well-being. When I get seven-eight hours of sleep at night, I feel fully functional in the morning. I feel really amazing. I feel like I've got the day under control. The fact is, you only get one mind and one body and it's got to last a lifetime, something Buffett once said. He also said, but if you don't take care of that mind and that body, they'll be a wreck 40 years later. Sleep is so pertinent to your mental health and wellbeing. When you don't get enough sleep, it can cause issues that are revolving around mental illness. If you already have a mental illness, not sleeping or insomnia can cause psychosis and cause you to go even further off the deep end. So please do your best to get the greatest sleep you possibly can so you can be well mentally every day.
Kevin Hines:
Let's get right into hack number two, play more at work and at home. Find a way to make simple or hard tasks more fun whether you're at home or at work, because playing is a biological necessity, just as sleep and nutrition. You have to play more to feel better. It's just the way your mind works. I'm, trust me, I'm telling you if you go out and you make sure that every task you have to take care of in your life is just a little bit more fun, you're going to be better off, you're going to smile more, you're going to laugh more, you're going to have more fun with your family and friends and of course, more fun with your colleagues. So whatever you do every day, find some time to play!
Kevin Hines:
Hack number three is to stop overthinking things. Overthinking will not do you well, it just hinders your ability to function in life. Overthinking everything causes us to get into a cycle of inaction, causing, of course, analysis paralysis. Instead, embrace uncertainty! Be of the mindset that uncertainty will bring with it benefits.
Kevin Hines:
Hack number four is to focus on positive thinking. If you're feeling anxious, move! Literally, move, go outside, get some fresh air. Put it on your favorite relaxing music while going for a brisk walk or a short jog or a long run. Try as hard as you can to take your mind away from what ails you, is bothering you, or causing you strike. Focus as you walk, jog or run on your breathing, positive thoughts that will make you feel safe, accepted, loved and, of course, honored. To function at an optimal level, taking care of your body and your mind is absolutely crucial.
Kevin Hines:
These four mental health hacks are easy to achieve within a short amount of time, and they've helped me a great deal to better my brain, mind, behavior, mental health, and well-being. So thank you to Inc. Magazine. Thank you to Warren Buffett for being the inspiration behind that article I read. And if you can take anything from today, take this note and move forward with your life. There's a lot you can do for your mental health and your mind and your well-being, if you just put your thoughts to it and you work really hard, hard work has nothing good ever came without it. You've got this on lockdown. I believe in you. Be well. Be kind, compassionate, loving, caring, and empathetic to every person you come into contact with, no matter their behavior toward you, because you never know what they're going through or what they've been through, and be here tomorrow and every single day after that. You are valued. You are loved. You are worthy, and if nobody else has said it today, I love you and I want you to stay. Bye, guys.
