Kevin Hines:
My name is Kevin Hines. I jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge. I believe that I had to die, but I lived. Today, I travel the world with my lovely wife, Margaret, sharing stories of people who have triumphed over incredible adversity. Now, we help people be here tomorrow. Welcome to the HINESIGHT's podcast.

Kevin Hines:
What's cracking, Hope Nation? It's your friendly neighborhood, Kevin Hines. And this is another round of Ask Kev, where you send your questions to me through the interwebs and internets and I cultivate those answers, I put them in a stew and pot and I boil them through and I give you the answers right here. This next question, it's a doozy. All right, let me break it down to you. The question is, how do you deal with getting messages from people all over the world on a regular basis that want to take their life or die by their hands? It's no easy task to get these messages, they come in every social media platform, they come to my email, and they come into my team, and let me just break down a situation I had last year where I had to shut down all social medias, I had to delete them from my phone, I had to give them to my team to handle because it was so overwhelming to me mentally, I couldn't handle it. So clearly, I can't always handle these messages. But when I'm well, when I'm doing well and I'm not struggling mentally, something that I really care about the people who are going through it and I try to reach out to as many as I possibly can, I try to reach back, I can't reach back to everyone. The messages come in to, such an influx that it's impossible for me to answer all of them, although I do want to, but we do send out as much crisis information as humanly possible, so we know that they got some good information as to how they can get the help they desire and deserve. It's rough not being able to reach everyone as I want to, but I do my damnedest to reach the people that I can with the ability that I have. I deal with it on a day-to-day basis by recognizing that we can try to make waves in some of these people's lives. And I can tell you that we have reached so many people through this outreach, to this personal, one-on-one connection outreach to people in pain and suicidal crisis that it's been such an emotional overthrowing of hope and healing that I'm graced with the luck of being given this opportunity to share my story around the world and to have people be affected by it in a positive way. But there are also those people out there that are still in that pain that the story I tell is not going to help. So I'll be clear about that. It's not something that's going to be the answer for every person. We have a qualitative and quantitative study of my story that it does have an effect of changing and saving lives and we've done that, so we know that it affects some people in that positive way. But to other people, it might not be the answer. So to all of you out there who are still struggling with those thoughts of ending your life, just know that I'm in your corner, I'm rooting for you and I care about you genuinely because I care about every human being in that kind of pain. That's just the type of person that I am. I can't always be there for you, I can't always be that person that answers that call, and I truly hope you find the person that does. So at this note, I want to say to you right now, if you're not comfortable or you don't get a message answered from me, please, if you're in America, text CNQR to 741741, the crisis text line. C as in cat, N as in Nancy, Q as in question, R is in robot, or Courage Normalized Question Recovery to 741741, the crisis text line, that is our crisis text lines partnership, or you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255, press one for military, which will soon be changed, potentially to a 988 number, kind of like 911 an easier with lesser call waiting times. Those are the two crises active lines I want you to follow, if you live in America. If you are international, please go to suicide.org to make sure you can get the help you so desire and so deserve because we want to make sure you're safe and that you be here tomorrow and every day after that. Guys, we can't reach everyone, we're trying to reach as many as we can, be well, be here tomorrow, and be kind to yourself and know that you're loved. Bye guys.
